Join acclaimed jazz vocalist Marianne Solivan for an engaging and interactive Jazz Vocal Repertoire Hang, where singers come together to explore and internalize jazz standards in a fun and collaborative way. In this session we'll learn a few CONTRAFACTS: Songs with the same form and same harmony as a standard but a different (bebop) melody. Marianne will introduce one or two songs, guiding participants through different recordings to understand various interpretations and stylistic approaches. While we won't sing together in real-time, Marianne will teach the melody by rote—using a "Barry Harris" style approach to help you internalize the tune. 📄 What’s Included: 🎵 Song Exploration – Listen to and analyze multiple recordings of the featured tune. 🎤 Melody Learning – Sing along as Marianne teaches the melody by ear. 📄 Sheet Music & Practice Tools – A downloadable PDF chart will be provided, along with an iRealPro chart for practice. 📢 Community Sharing – Record your own version and share it using #JVRHANG to connect with fellow singers and refine your interpretation.
