🎶 Where to Find Great Charts & Tracks for Jazz Singing

Crowdsourced & Curated by the JazzVoice Community

One of the most common questions we hear at JazzVoice is:“Where do you get your charts and tracks?”

Whether you're prepping for a jam, learning a new tune, or teaching a student, having the right tools can make all the difference. Here's a collection of our favorite resources — some from JazzVoice leadership and some generously shared by our amazing community.

📚 Sing-Along Books & Real Books (with Backing Tracks)

Looking for high-quality play-alongs with a real band feel? Check out the JazzVoice Real Books & Sing-Alongs Store.

Recommended Jamey Aebersold Volumes for Singers:

  • Vol. 113 – Embraceable You: Ballads for All Singers

  • Vol. 107 – It Had To Be You: Standards for Singers

  • Vol. 117 – Cole Porter for Singers

These feature excellent rhythm sections playing multiple choruses. Keys aren’t customizable, but are generally female-friendly — and you can use Anytune or Moises to adjust pitch and tempo.

📱 iRealPro App

iRealPro is a must-have app for any jazz singer.

  • Thousands of jazz, pop, holiday, and Latin charts

  • Transpose, adjust tempo, loop sections

  • View chord scales and voicings

  • Works on mobile, tablet, or desktop

✍️ Learn to Write Your Own Lead Sheets

Prefer to create your own charts? At JazzVoice our mission is to empower you with knowledge. Even if you sometimes buy lead sheets, it's great to understand what goes in to a good lead sheet and be able to make one:

🎼 Buy Lead Sheets in Your Key

Want to purchase accurate, legal lead sheets in your key?

Other sites (less consistent, but still helpful):

⚠️ Note: These platforms don’t always offer true lead sheets and may have transcription inconsistencies — but they’re still great for many common songs.

🎛️ Moises App – AI Tools for Practice & Backing Tracks

Moises is an AI-powered app that lets you:

  • Remove or isolate vocals, bass, drums, etc.

  • Transpose to any key

  • Change tempo without pitch shift

  • Loop tricky sections

  • View chords and generate click tracks

Upload a file or paste a YouTube link — perfect for custom practice tracks!

🧠 Smart Search: YouTube + YTMP3

(Tip from Annamarie Smith-Butz)

“Search for the song title + ‘female voice’ + ‘backing track’. Once you find a good one, use ytmp3.com to download the audio.”

Try also: “karaoke,” “instrumental,” or “minus one.”

(Tip from Alan Pollard)

  • Pro-quality backing tracks

  • Often in multiple keys with PDFs

  • Slightly pricey, but very reliable🔗 Visit JazzBacks.com

🎹 Custom Tracks by Abramo Riti

(Tip from Sue Sheriff)

  • Piano/bass/drums tracks in any key

  • Synthesized instruments, great for practice

  • Email: abramoriti26@gmail.com (mention JazzVoice!)
