Join acclaimed jazz vocalist Christie Dashiell for an engaging master class designed to elevate your vocal technique, style, and artistic interpretation. With a sound that blends jazz, soul, and R&B, Christie is known for her rich tone, impeccable phrasing, and deep musical expression. In this session, Christie will open with a live performance, sharing her unique approach to phrasing, storytelling, and improvisation. Three volunteer singers will then have the opportunity to perform and receive personalized feedback, gaining valuable insights to refine their vocal skills and stage presence. Whether you participate as a singer or an observer, you’ll walk away with practical tools and inspiration to deepen your connection to jazz and enhance your vocal artistry. Washington, D.C.-born and North Carolina-raised, Christie Dashiell is an acclaimed jazz vocalist, composer, and educator known for her rich tone and improvisational skill. A graduate of Howard University and the Manhattan School of Music, she gained national recognition as a member of Afro-Blue on NBC’s The Sing-Off and has collaborated with artists like Nancy Wilson, Geri Allen, Esperanza Spalding, and Smokey Robinson. Her debut album, Time All Mine, charted on Billboard"s Jazz Album Charts, and her 2023 release, Journey in Black, explores themes of freedom, legacy, grief, and joy through original compositions and dynamic arrangements. In 2025, Journey in Black was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards, further solidifying Dashiell's position as a leading voice in contemporary jazz. A dedicated educator, she teaches at Howard University, Temple University, and The University of the District of Columbia, continuing to inspire the next generation of jazz musicians.

There's no penalty for cancelling, and it has no impact on your access. As a member, you also have unlimited access to both live classes and video recordings of all past sessions. For One-Off Class Purchasers ($15 per class): Your $15 purchase gives you access only to the live session—recordings are not included. If you’d prefer to watch the class later, you can purchase just the video (without attending live) for $15. Video recordings are available under the Videos tab at JazzVoice.com. Please be sure you can attend before booking, as we do not offer refunds for missed or cancelled classes.
