Inside the Phrase: Rhythm, Time, and Interpretation
with Nancy Marano, December 12, 3PM ET
Details & Information
Phrasing is at the heart of jazz singing. In this workshop, Nancy Marano explores how rhythm, time feel, and interpretive choices can shape the way we tell a song’s story. Drawing on both swing and ballad repertoire, Nancy will look at ways singers can approach a melody with greater freedom, musicality, and personal expression. Through demonstrations, exercises, and work with repertoire, singers will explore different approaches to phrasing and develop tools for making a song feel natural, expressive, and uniquely their own. About Nancy Marano Nancy Marano is an internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist, arranger, and educator who has recorded eight albums as a leader and performed with artists including Gerry Mulligan, Michel Legrand, and Dick Hyman.
