You've booked the gig—now how do you get people to show up? Whether you're promoting a local performance, a special concert, or a multi-city tour, effective marketing can make the difference between playing to an empty room and building an enthusiastic audience. Join guitarist, composer, content creator, and music business educator Quentin Angus, for a practical look at how independent musicians can promote their performances, reach new listeners, and build momentum around their live shows. We'll explore strategies for social media promotion, creating engaging content, email marketing, collaborating with venues, and developing a promotional timeline that helps turn awareness into ticket sales. We'll also look at paid advertising strategies, including geofencing and geographically targeted ad buys, to help you reach potential audiences in specific cities and neighborhoods—especially valuable when promoting shows in unfamiliar markets or planning a tour. From creating eye-catching promotional materials to making the most of limited time and advertising budgets, this class will focus on actionable strategies musicians can put to work right away. Whether you're promoting your first gig or planning an ambitious tour, you'll gain ideas for reaching more people, building your audience, and making every performance count.
